Vidya is science, learning, knowledge and scholarship; most importantly, it refers to correct knowledge which cannot be contradicted and true knowledge which is the knowledge of the self intuitively gained.
Avidya is the opposite of vidya. Avidya is ignorance. Ignorance is a lack of knowledge and information. The word “ignorant” is an adjective that describes a person in the state of being unaware, or even cognitive dissonance and other cognitive relation, and can describe individuals who are unaware of important information or facts.
Public Health all over the world is urging us all to remain ignorant, by suggesting that we should not look into anything on our own. And that we must only learn about this virus from sources that they promote.
With the approach they are promoting, we will remain in avidya regarding this virus forever. It’s important as we practice yoga to be open to information. Doing so, helps us to come into vidya, and to learn to not doubt our own discerning wisdom, and intuition.
